How To Make a Chalkboard Storage Container.

It's Thursday! So here is a little tutorial on how to make a custom chalkboard container. It is a really cute and great to store make-up or pens etc. in. I hope you enjoy it.

What you will need:

- an empty cocoa tin.
- chalkboard/blackboard paint.
- acrylic paint in a colour of your choice (I chose pink).
- gold paint (optional).
- 3 medium-sized paintbrushes.
- masking tape.
- scissors.

1. The first thing you need to do is clean out the inside of your cocoa tin, I just wiped mine with damp tissue. Then start painting the outside of your cocoa tin with the chalkboard paint.

2. Now start painting the top and the bottom of the lid (not the sides). It will need quite a few coats, I had to do about 6-7 to get an even coverage.

It should look like this when it is finished.

3. You can now add a second to the outside of your cocoa tin. My chalkboard paint dried quite quickly so I could add a second coat after about 15 minutes but it'll be different with different ones so just make that the first one is completely dry before you add the second.

4. If you want to add decoration with the gold paint follow these last steps. Cut up strips of the masking tape about 1.5cm wide and stick the corner to the top of the tin as shown in the picture.

5. Paint over the tape with the gold paint and leave to dry.

Now you can write or draw on your tin. I used liquid chalk pens but ordinary chalk is fine :)

Thanks for reading my tutorial, if you made one I'd love to see it!
